New Music USA is proud to announce the recipients of The New Music Capacity Building Program, made possible by The New York Community Trust. This two-year capacity-building program is designed for a diverse cohort of small sized groups committed to presenting, performing, or promoting new music by living music creators on a regular basis.
Reel Change: The Fund for Diversity in Film Scoring, powered by SESAC and Christophe Beck and administered by New Music USA, announces the first recipients of the grant program. The mission of Reel Change’s five-year grants and mentorship program is to elevate the careers and opportunities of composers of diverse backgrounds who have been marginalized in film composition. The first four grant recipients are composers Sultana Isham, Cali Wang, Emer Kinsella, and Daniel Jimenez Afanador.
New Music USA is pleased to announce the selection of 53 awardees for the first round of the New Music USA Creator Development Fund.
The New Music Organizational Development Fund offers grants to non-profit organizations, performance groups, dance organizations, festivals, presenters, and venues with a proven track record and impact who need support to sustain their programming of new music, artist development work, and other services in the evolving context of COVID-19. This program is for outstanding organizations which work regularly with, and support the development of, music creators and artists and offer a crucial resource to the community. The New Music Solidarity Fund, an initiative formed to grant emergency funding to musicians impacted by COVID-19, has concluded fundraising. At $508,000, the completed Fund has far exceeded its initial $100,000 goal, as well as its subsequent $500,000 goal; the Fund is now able to distribute emergency $500 grants to 1,016 applicants.
The New Music Solidarity Fund is designed to help new/creative/improvised music freelancers whose projects have been canceled during the COVID-19 crisis.

Totaling $529,420 in funding, this year’s grants support new American music projects in 27 states. The 114 awarded projects include a wide range of activities and events involving new music as a central element; many projects involve collaborations in dance, theater, opera, and the visual arts.
An experienced, passionate, and transformational music professional, Ms. Reed comes to New Music USA after serving the United Kingdom’s PRS Foundation as chief executive for the past 11 years.
